1912 Úrvalsdeild- Iceland

KR (white) Fram (dark)

Three teams entered the first edition of the Icelandic championship, which was played out over the 28th June - 2nd July 1912 .

Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (Reykjavík Football Club), known as KR. Iceland's oldest football club, established in  February 1899.

Knattspyrnufélagið Fram, founded 1908, in Reykjavík.

ÍB Vestmannæyjar, founded in 1903 on the islands of  Vestmannaeyjar.

The tournament began a day earlier than scheduled to allow for IVB's travelling arrangements.
In the first match KR and Fram drew 1-1 in front of a crowd of 500.
In the next match KR beat IBV 3-0. It was a rough game and left IVB with only 7 fit players out of their party of 12, so they were obliged to withdraw from the competition.

This left KR and Fram to play off for the championship. On July 2nd KR  won 3-2 to become the first Icelandic Champions.
If their path to the title seems rather brief and easy, playing just 3 games, consider the fact that in 1913 and 1914 Fram were awarded the championship when no other teams entered.

Apparently KR had decided that if they won the title that they would adopt the colours of whoever the English league champions were that year- however they chose the black and white stripes of Newcastle United, who had last won the League in 1909 and the FA Cup in 1910.
